I check the fuses and they were fine, but I did not check the fuses under the dash by the brake pedal. But I had the same problem as 02Chevy on a 98 model which uses basically the same style switch as these models and that corrected the problem. Might sound like a stupid question but are you sure the potentiometer on the light switch isn't turned all the way down? I have power in and out of the switch no power to the illumination wire on the instrument panels and the fuse holds but over powers the reostat on the interior dimmer light switch and burns out the reostat on the switch. Chris Well my speedometer is actin up the problem is that it will read you doing 120 mph while actually you are going 55 mph the gauge will also not return to 0 or drop below 55. A friend believes the short may have destroyed the light dimmer portion of the headlight switch he ran power to the fuse and the lights came on but dimmer function would not work. I checked the wire in the harness and it is not damaged no sign of it overheating or melting.

Atleast I don't drive at night all that much.
